About this service

What this service covers

Old or damaged wiring, a renovation or a new extension can all call for new electrical work. We carry out new electrical installations, additional circuits, partial rewiring and full rewiring for homes undergoing refurbishment or needing improvements.

Every installation is different, so there is no standard price. We assess the property and the work required, then give you a clear quote. It depends on the size of the property, the number of circuits, access, cable routes, making good and any building work. Certification and the applicable notification requirements are addressed as appropriate for the work.

Common situations

Signs your wiring may need attention

  • The wiring is original in an older property
  • Fabric or rubber-covered cable, or round-pin sockets
  • Scorch marks, buzzing or a burning smell from fittings (switch off and call an electrician)
  • Trips that keep happening, or lights that flicker
  • An EICR marked the installation unsatisfactory
  • You are renovating and walls or floors are open anyway

FAQ

Questions we hear about this service

How long does a rewire take?

It depends on the size of the property and the work. A smaller installation can take around a day, and an extensive rewire several days or longer. We agree a plan with you once we know the job.

Do I need to move out?

Sometimes. A part-property rewire can often be done while you stay, and a whole-property rewire is easier empty. We talk through the options.

Will there be mess?

Rewiring involves cutting channels in walls and lifting floors in places. We protect floors and keep the site tidy, but some making good and redecorating is normally needed afterwards.

How much does a rewire cost?

Every property is different, so we assess it and give you an individual quote. The price depends on size, circuits, access and any building work.
